The Establishment of Taiwan Database of Extracts and Compounds

2023

This project was financially supported by the Chinese Medicine Research Center, China Medical University, through the Featured Areas Research Center Program within the framework of the Higher Education Sprout Project by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Taiwan to upgrade the website.

2016

The project was awarded by the former Director of the Department of Life Science of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Profesor Dr. Shaw-Jenq Tsai, to plan the establishment of the "Taiwan Database of Extracts and Compounds” website.It was supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology's Special Research Project.

Integrate

The purpose of this project is to integrate the crude extracts, pure natural isolates, and chemically synthesized derivatives of the natural product from Chinese herbal medicines, marine organisms, and microbes in domestic academic institutions, research institutes, and industrial corporations. Besides, the purpose of this project is also to summarize the important biological resources in Taiwan and construct a fully functional "Taiwan Database of Extracts and Compounds."

In response to the rapid development of global biotechnology research, it is necessary to establish a domestic integrated drug database and communication platform to comply with the trend of competition. After the completion of construction, it can reduce resource waste and also improve the development of biotechnology and medicine in domestic academic institutions and industries.

This database can provide information on the names of drug samples, compound structures, physicochemical properties, and biological activities for academic research institutions and industries.

The matching function of the TDEC website can effectively assist the government in actively promoting research and development policies in biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, and promoting the cooperative development mechanisms of biotechnology and pharmaceutical products, officials and schools. The matching function also establishes the theme of research for new drugs, new reagents, new therapeutic strategies, and emerging medical material development to enhance the development capabilities and competitiveness of new domestic drugs.

Serve

This website is for the functions of drug data query, management, analysis, and investigator matching.

It can provide information on the structure, physicochemical properties, and biological activities of the drug for academic research institutions and industries. The matching function enables interdisciplinary communication and effectively increases the follow-up development of “drugs” to enhance the development capabilities and competitiveness of domestic drugs.
